Sylvain Distin is a French football player who currently features for the English Premier League side Everton. He is a versatile defender who can play anywhere across the back four.
Distin commenced his footballing career at Joue-les-Tours in 1997 and in 1998 moved to Tours. He subsequently played for Gueugnon and Paris Saint Germain.
Manchester City signed Distin in 2002 and he featured with considerable consistency for the next five years, featuring in 178 Premier League matches.
Portsmouth signed him in the summer of 2007 and he was a key player for Pompey in the 2007-2008 season as they won the FA Cup and also finished in the top half of the Premier League table. Then a season later he moved to Everton.
Distin soon became an important player for Everton and established himself in the first team under then manager David Moyes. He has made over 120 appearances in the Premier League for the Toffees.
