Victor Osimhen is a soccer player for Napoli and Nigeria. He is a forward.
Lagos-born Osimhen moved to Europe shortly after his 18th birthday, after impressing at the 2015 Under-17 World Cup, joining German club Wolfsburg where he spent two seasons, including one on loan in Belgium with Charleroi.
Osimhen netted 20 times in the 2018-19 season with Charleroi, prompting a move to French club Lille in July 2019, going on to win Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September 2019. He won the club’s Player of the Season gong, going on to seal a big-money move to Serie A club Napoli in July 2020. Napoli signed him for a club-record fee of 70m euros, which makes him the most expensive African player to date.
Osimhen hasn’t been overly prolific in Italy, netting 10 and 18 goals in his first two seasons, but his ability to set up others in attack has made him a key player. He won Serie A’s 2021-22 Best Young Player award.
He has also been capped by Nigeria, helping the side to third place at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
