Michael Ian Mancienne is an English football player who currently plays for the Premier League giants Chelsea. He plays as a centre back or a right back.

Michael developed his football playing skills at the Chelsea youth academy and was drafted into the first team in 2004. He signed a professional contract with the club in 2006 and was on the bench for Chelsea for the last league game of the 2005-2006 season.

In the summer of 2006 Mancienne was sent on loan for two seasons to Queens Park Rangers. He was a regular at the London club and made 58 league appearances in two seasons there. Prior to this, he was part of the 2006 Community Shield against Liverpool, with the first 2 Premier League matches played against Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City. On 14th February 2009, he made his Chelsea debut, starting with FA Cup tie at Warford. Later on, he made his European debut after 11 days as a late substitute in UEFA Champions League knock out tie against Juventus, with victory of 1-0 to Chelsea team.

On 28th February, he made his Premier League debut in 2-1 victory against Wigan Athletic team.At the end of 2008-09 season, he made his only first team appearance for the club and was voted as Young Player of the year. By 2009 August, he signed a new contract with Chelsea, which would be expiring in June 2013.

With right to his international career, Michael was a regular England player at U21 level since making his debut against Romania on 21st August 2007. He reached the 2009 European Championship, though his match was a disappointment as he received a red card in the opening group match held against Finland. Prior to this, he had represented England team at U16, U17, U19 and U21 levels.

Career Highlights

Michael and his team received the FA Cup in 2009 when he was with the Chelsea team. Individually, he was awarded with the Chelsea Young Player of the year title in 2008-09.
