Ruben Neves previously moved from FC Porto in his homeland to Wolverhampton under Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo in the England in 2017, with the club originally in the Championship.

Neves established himself as a key player for Wolves, who gained promotion to the Premier League that season. He was named in that season’s EFL Championship Team of the Season for 2017-18 and the PFA Team of the Year for the 2017-18 Championship.
