Marco Verratti is an Italian football player who currently features for Qatari club Al Arabi. He plays as an attacking midfielder.
Club Career
Verratti developed at the youth academy of Pescara and made his first-team debut in the 2008-09 season at the age of 16. In 2009-10, he began to play more regularly and started to earn a name for himself as a playmaker with excellent passing skills.
Verratti was moved into a deep-lying playmaking position in the 2011-12 season by then Pescara coach Zdenek Zeman and the teenager was hugely impressive there, helping the Italian club gain promotion to Serie A for the 2012-13 campaign.
Despite a number of top Italian clubs seeking his signature in the summer of 2012, it was Paris Saint-Germain who signed Verratti from Pescara on a five-year contract.
In September 2023, Verratti was sold by PSG to Qatari club Al Arabi for an undisclosed fee.
International Career
Verratti made his international debut for Italy in August 2012 in a friendly international against England that the Azzurri lost 2-1.
