Gael Bigirimana is a teenage football player who currently features for the Premier League club Newcastle United. He plays as a midfielder.

Bigirimana was born in Bujumbura, Burundi but moved to the United Kingdom with his family as a refugee in 2004, having spent time in Uganda. He started his football career at Coventry City’s youth academy when he was just 11 years of age.

Bigirimana progressed through the club’s youth system and made his professional debut against Leicester City in a Championship game on August 8, 2011 in a match that they lost 1-0. In March 2012 he won won the Championship’s Apprentice of the Year Award for the 2011–12 season.

In July 2012 Newcastle came calling and signed Bigirimana from Coventry on a five-year contract for a reported transfer fee of between £500,000 and £1,000,000. He made his Premier League debut for the Magpies on September 2012 against Aston Villa in a 1-1 draw and his competitive debut in his side’s 1-1 draw with Greek outfit Atromitos in a Europa League fourth round qualifier on August 23, 2012.
