A professional football player from Brazil, Josef de Souza Dias plays as a defensive midfielder! Souza began his played career at the Vasco da Gama youth academy, when he was 9 years of age. From 1998 to 2008, Souza played through the different age-group teams at the club, shining brightly and showing his potential to play at the highest level. He moved into the senior team in 2008 and even though Souza was a part of the Serie B title winning team in 2009, he only played minor roles.
However, Souza was quite impressive in his 30-odd appearances over 3 seasons and FC Porto brought him to Portugal in 2010. Souza would become part of a historic FC Porto side that, under Andres Villas-Boas, would go on to win the treble with the UEFA Europa League, the Portuguese League title and the Portuguese Cup in 2010-11. However, the club soon realised that Souza needed more time before he could play at the highest level.
Souza was sent to Brazil in 2012, signing up with Gremio on a loan move. The Brazilian Under-20 international, with 5 caps to his name, is a regular part of the Gremio side in the state league and cup games, although he has yet to make an appearance in the league.
