Guy Roland Demel is a professional Ivorian football player who plays for the team of West Ham United as a defender. He can even play in different positions like right back, right midfielder and as a center back as well.
He was born in Orsay, Paris and started his football career professionally with Nimes Olympique, signing with Arsenal for one season in London. Subsequently, he got transferred to Borussia Dortmund, making his Bundesliga debut in 2003 during which time, he won the Bundesliga and made it to the UEFA Cup finals in his first season. However, he left Dortmund team to join Hamburg in 2005, where he played as a midfielder and also as a right back.
In May 2006, he signed a new contract with the team of Hamburg, due to which he was with this club till 2010. Later on, he was released at the expiry of his contract with this team in 2011, with whom he made 199 appearances which includes 52 appearances in European football in the UEFA Cup, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League in 2006-07, scoring 4 goals.
In 2004, Guy being a French citizen, acquired an Ivorian passport and got selected for the national team, playing at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006. He was named to this squad for 2006 and 2010 World Cup finals.
