Mike Williamson is an English football player who currently features for the Premier League club Newcastle United. He plays as a central defender.
Williamson commenced his professional club football career at Torquay United in 2001 after which he moved to Southampton. He was on the Saints’ book for four years but failed to make a single league appearance, playing on loan for Torquay and Doncaster Rovers during that period.
Williamson joined Wycombe Wanderers after leaving Southampton and it was there that he finally hit the ground running. After scoring 10 goals in 144 impressive league fixtures, he earned himself a move to Watford and then to Portsmouth.
However, he was farmed out on loan to Newcastle for the second half of the 2009-10 season after which he was signed by the Magpies on a permanent contract. Since then Williamson has made over 80 league appearances, consolidating himself as an important player for Newcastle.
