Marc Muniesa Martinez is a young Spanish football player who currently features for the Spanish and European giants Barcelona. He plays as a defender and can play either as a centre-back or as a left-back.
Muniesa developed at the youth academy of Barcelona, La Masia, where he was hugely impressively and earned a reputation as one of the best teenagers in the country. He made his debut for the Barca first team aged 17 years and 57 days on May 23, 2009 against Osasuna. He came on as a substitute in a 1-0 victory at Camp Nou.
Muniesa then became the second youngest player ever to play for Barcelona but he was sent off after coming on. However, days later he was part of the substitutes for Barca’s Champions League final against Manchester United.
In February 2011 Muniesa signed a new contract with Barcelona that saw his buy-out clause rise to €30 million. In April 2012 he signed another contract extension and was promoted to the first team for the 2012-13 season.
