Álvaro Fernández> is a Uruguayan football player who presently plays for Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer along with the Uruguay national football team. So far, he has made 11 international caps, with his first international match being against Chile in 2009.
In 2009, Fernandez made his first international appearance for Uruguay team. He played as a substitute in the 40th minutes during World Cup qualifying match held against Chile. The match however ended with 0-0 draw. He won 11 caps so far for the Uruguay football team. During the qualification process, Alvaro played in six games and has a play record of 246 minutes, with 41 minutes per game. For the Uruguay team, he appeared in four matches in 2010 helping the team reach in fourth place. Subsequently, he was selected to play a friendly match in Lisbon against Angola national football team.
