Arsenal vs. QPR Three things we learned from 2-1 victory of Arsenals over Rangers

There is currently no margin for error for both the Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers (QPR) clubs, wherein one (Arsenal) is trying to stay at the third position and the other (QPR) is fighting to get out of the relegation zone. However, every match has only one winner. The match between these two football clubs on Wednesday night, March 4, 2015, at the Loftus Road gave us the winner of this crucial game. After an uninspired opening, Arsenal was able to collect another three points with impressive finishes from Alexis Sánchez and Olivier Giroud.

In the second half of the match, Arsenal doubled their lead, but Charlie Austin’s crashing strike at the end of ten minutes made the match looked over as a contest. However, it wasn’t to be like that. Of course, the game was a tense finish for both clubs, but the defeat has hardly hit the Rangers. Here are three things that we have learned from this match.

Arsenal’s mental strength helped to beat QPR

Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger said during his post-match press conference, “We needed not only to fight but to fight to play.” The team was nervous at the start of the game, but the players were able to take over the game in the second half. French forward, Olivier Giroud had been much criticized following his missed chances against Monaco, but he is very strong mentally. He took the criticism mentally and responded cleverly when he got the opportunities. For players such as Alexis Sanchez, who has not scored for 7-8 games, it requires mental strength to respond in such crisis. The second goal from Alexis finally doubled the lead for QPRs.

QPR needs other players to take the goal burden

Despite Charlie Austin’s clinical finish in the remaining eight minutes, Rangers were unable to snatch a point from their rival. QPR boss, Chris Ramsey wants other players to create more opportunities in the field. He wants experienced players such as Rio Ferdinand, Zamora and others to take the goal burden from Austin. Ramsey still believes that Ferdinand, who has been recently hired as a brand ambassador by the online casino operator, will help the team score more points in coming matches.

QPR needs to pick up a win soon

Arsenal’s victory over QPR consolidated the third position for Gunners, but it has become “imperative” for Rangers to pick up a win soon. In a statement, Ramsey has said: “When I embarked on this situation I didn’t think it would be a walk in the park.” The team was relying too much on Austin’s efforts. Robert Green too gave wonderful performance against Arsenals. However, for all that effort, QPR has ended up with no points.

This league is demanding more from all the football clubs in terms of scores, points and performances. For Arsenal, if Alexis gets his early season form again, the team will be able to hold on the top position. And, for QPR, senior and experienced players, besides Austin, are required to fight for survival in the Premier League.
