Sevilla vs. Valencia: Europa League Betting Preview

A cracking semi-final line up in the Europa League and four quality sides all with their eyes on glory.

Benfica and Juventus head the betting and it is the Italians that are outright favourites ahead of Thursday’s first legs.

With the final in Turin it is easy to understand why but Juve face no easy task in getting the better of a talented Benfica team and the best bet this week comes in the all-Spanish clash.

Sevilla host Valencia before the return at the Mestalla next Thursday and I very much want to be with Unai Emery’s side.

The selection are in blistering form in La Liga and have Athletic Bilbao, who currently occupy fourth place, in their sights.

The pair meet this weekend in a fixture that will go a long way to deciding who plays Champions League football next term but I don’t expect Sevilla to be focused on domestic matters tonight and Valencia are predicted to be put to the sword.

Sevilla have plundered 10 goals in their previous three matches, a run which has produced maximum points, and their 4-2 aggregate win over Porto in the previous round of this competition was impressive.

Kevin Gameiro scored the final goal in the 4-1 home romp against the Portuguese and the Brazilian has found the net six times in his last four outings.

Valencia sit 14 points adrift of their upcoming opponents in the top flight and it is five matches on the road without a win, failing to score on three occasions.

In fact, it is only three away wins all season away from home for Valencia in 17 La Liga games and Sevilla are a confident selection at around the 8/11 mark.

Striker Jonas is the visitor’s only player this term to have reached double figures in the goal charts but his strike at Osasuna on the weekend was a first since January and Valencia lack a cutting edge.

I think there is quite a sizeable gulf in class between the pair and this tie could be all but over after 90 minutes.

3pts Back Sevilla (vs. Valencia) @ 8/11 (Coral, Bet Victor)
