Liverpool will go head-to-head with Cardiff City on Sunday in the Carling Cup final at Wembley.
Seven-time Carling Cup champions Liverpool are aiming for their first trophy since the FA Cup triumph over West Ham back in 2006.
This will be the Reds first visit to Wembley since the FA Cup defeat in 1996 against Manchester United. The Reds will enter the match as clear favourites as Cardiff will have to produce something really special if they are to shock the Merseyside outfit.
Dalglish will undoubtedly put his best defenders on the pitch to avoid any complacency in the performance, which means Jamie Carragher will sit out again to make way for Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger. Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson will cover the defensive flanks.
Skipper Steven Gerrard and Charlie Adam are expected to start the game as central midfielders, while Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll will be eying another start together. Stewart Downing will possibly retain his place in the squad after a solid performance in last week’s 5th round FA Cup match against Brighton.
The only uncertainty in Dalglish’s line-up will be of Craig Bellamy, who will have an emotional day against his boyhood club. It looks like Dirk Kuyt could start the match as a winger and Bellamy, who scored the winner against Manchester City in the semi-final, will be thrown onto the field in the later stages of the match.
Cardiff City are expected to field an unchanged line-up from their semi-final match.
Possible line-ups: Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Kuyt/Bellamy, Steven Gerrard, Adam, Downing, Suarez, Carroll
Cardiff City: Heaton, Taylor, Anthony Gerrard, Turner, Whittingham, Cowie, Conway, Gunnarsson, Blake, McPhail, Miller
