After the initial offer of £27 million for Cesc Fabregas’ transfer was rejected by Arsenal, there is a chance that Barcelona may look to offer a revised £31 million for the Spaniard to make the move to Barcelona. Earlier, Arsenal had said that they were looking at a minimum transfer fee of £45 for the Gunners’ striker.
However, there is another factor that could decide whether Arsene Wenger would allow Fabregas to get away to Barcelona – the selection of Ricardo Alvarez.
A lot depends on how Wenger sees the future of his star striker for his club. Fabregas did not have as amazing season as it was envisaged for him before the start, which is why his asking price fell. Wenger has often said that he was confident that Fabregas would continue his career at Arsenal but with these recent reports, things look as clear as muddy water.
If the Argentine Alvarez can be signed up by Arsenal, along with the likes of Gervinho and Christopher Samba, Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka being other options as well, then there is a good chance that Wenger may be tempted to give Fabregas away for a compromised sum.
Álvarez is an Argentine, who has been playing for Vélez Sársfield in the Argentine Primera División.
