The pressure is mounting on Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann after they failed to win in the German Bundesliga for the fourth straight game, with football director Hasan Salihamidzic admitting he’s a “little worried”.
Bayern were beaten 1-0 by midtable Augsburg on Saturday, following on from three consecutive draws, leaving them fifth with 12 points from seven games.
“We haven’t won in four league games,” Salihamidzic told reporters. “We’ve taken three points from a possible 12, so I’m a little worried.
“You can’t win in the Bundesliga the way we played today. We lacked focus and the desire to put the ball in the net with the chances we had, and we gave away chances too.
“We have problems against teams that are physical against us. If we don’t bring discipline, hunger and physicality, we can’t win. Now there are no more excuses, we have to pick up some wins.”
There were reports of disharmony within the Bayern squad last week, prior to their 2-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League, although several players played that down.
The recent results, though, are damning for Nagelsmann, who led the side comfortably to the Bundesliga title last term, in his first season in charge.
“We had a lot of chances,” Nagelsmann said about the Augsburg loss where Bayern had 19-10 shots.
“We wasted a lot of presentable opportunities, we were too lax in the final third. Augsburg played with real courage, they pushed everyone forward.
“We conceded, and from then on it was tough. We just wasted loads of chances. At the end of the day, we’ve not been picking up enough points. We’ve had plenty of chances to win.”
Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked as Chelsea boss earlier this month, has been linked with the job. Bayern takes on Bayer Leverkusen after the international break.
