England’s top three Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool all won on Wednesday as the title race heats up with only two points separating the trio who have pulled away.

Chelsea got past Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road, with Hakim Ziyech netting a 72nd-minute winner after Emmanuel Dennis had levelled for the Hornets.

City won by the same scoreline at Aston Villa with first-half goals from Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva before Ollie Watkins netted after the break to ensure a tense finale.

Liverpool turned on the style with a 4-1 win over Merseyside rivals Everton, with Mohamed Salah scoring a double, with in-form Diogo Jota also netted along with Jordan Henderson who opened the scoring.

The Reds are third in the title race but have netted a league-high 43 goals from 14 games, comfortably clear of the next best, Chelsea, with 33 goals.

Liverpool have scored two or more goals in every Premier League game this season except the August 1-1 draw with the Blues. The Reds have netted four goals in each of their past three league games too.

“Scoring these two goals, the first one was a pass from Hendo and the next one, he put Coleman under pressure,” Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said about Salah.

“Diogo’s goal, outstanding. The performance of all of the boys was absolutely outstanding. I thought Sadio (Mane) was in moments unplayable as well, so it was just a good performance.”

Elsewhere, fourth-placed West Ham United dropped points after Neal Maupay’s spectacular late equaliser earned Brighton a 1-1 draw.

Wolverhampton and Burnley drew 0-0 despite Adama Traore cannoning a good chance into the crossbar, while Southampton and Leicester City drew 2-2 with Jamie Vardy fluffing a late chance.
