John Aldridge has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Liverpool’s defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Defending Premier League champions Liverpool have suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of defending La Liga champions Madrid away from home in the first leg of the quarter-final tie.

Vinicius Junior put Madrid in the lead at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium in the 27th minute, and Marco Asensio doubled the advantage on 36 minutes.

Although Mohamed Salah halved the deficit in the opening minutes of the second half for the Reds, Vinicius Junior restored the 13-time European champions’ lead on 65 minutes.

Former Liverpool star Aldridge was following the match, and he has given his take on the final result on Twitter.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium on Tuesday evening, hosts Madrid had 46% of the possession, took 15 shots of which seven were on target, and earned five corners.

Visitors Liverpool had 54% of the possession, took seven shots of which one was on target, and earned three corners.

The second leg of the quarter-final tie will be play at Anfield next week.
