FC Barceona coach Frank Rijkaard has come under severe criticism after his side fell behind a massive 9 point off the pace in La Liga essentially gifted the title to their bitter rivals Real Madrid.
But Rijkaard has asked the players and the club’s supporters to sustain faith and insists that there’s still enough room for a miracle. The Dutchman says that he still clings onto a ray of hope that Real will drop points in their six remaining matches and says that Barca need to wrestle advantage.
Barcelona play their city rivals Espanyol Barcelona at Camp Nou on Saturday and looking ahead to the derby, Rijkaard says:
“At the moment it is necessary to believe, and later we will see what happens. If we win our games there is still a chance of an impossible miracle.
“Tomorrow is an important match. It is true that players are returning to the team from injury, but it will depend on how the match goes as to whether or not they are introduced. Before anything else, our primary focus is the match with Espanyol.”
Barca need to win that match to assert some pressure on Real Madrid who travel to Racing Santander on Sunday.
