It is one thing to bring your wife to work with you. But it is another thing entirely when you have just been married a few hours and you have had to cut short your reception into the bargain.
However, that was exactly what Australian goalkeeper Luke Boeran did last weekend when he was faced with the biggest dilemma of his life. His team Queensland Lion FC qualified for the semi-finals of the National Premier League competition and were due to play their biggest game of the season so far.
Normally, the match would have been played months ago, but it was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was rescheduled for the day that 30-year old Boeran was due to wed Ellen Heyburn.
Rather than let either of them down, Boeran decided to do both instead. He duly got married to Ellen and they began their reception only to break off the celebrations midway through and decamp to the Peninsula Power Stadium in Ferraris, along with the bride and a number of guests all dressed in their finery.
His teammates were astonished and were all ready to play with a replacement goalkeeper but were also pleased to see him as well.
Boeran then swapped his suit for his #goalkeeping jersey and proceeded to play in the match against Peninsula Power with his new bride and guests watching on from the stands.
To cap his days work, he had a fine match, making several big saves, and his team won 4-1.
After the match, the new bride posed for photos along with Boeran and his victorious teammates.
The final is next weekend against Brisbane Olympic and Boeran intends to play in the match, with all thoughts of a honeymoon now put on hold until the end of the season.
