Newcastle United goalkeeper Mark Gillespie has taken to Twitter to express his delight at playing for his new club on Tuesday evening.
Gillespie was in action for Newcastle in their Carabao Cup first-round tie against Championship club Blackburn at St. James Park.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper started the match for the Premier League game and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Steve Bruces side won 1-0.
The Englishman joined Newcastle on a free transfer earlier this summer following his departure from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell at the end of the last season.
Gillespie has taken to Twitter to revel in playing for Newcastle in a competitive game.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at St. James Park on Tuesday evening, hosts Newcastle had 36% of the possession, took five shots of which two were on target, and earned three corners.
Visitors Blackburn had 64% of the possession, took 15 shots of which three were on target, and earned 10 corners.
