Reigning Italian champions and European powerhouse Inter Milan are desperately keen on signing the Argentine hotshot Sergio Aguero during the January transfer market, according to latest reports emerging from Italy.
The 20-year Argentine international striker is in his third season at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and has earned comparisons with the Argentine legend Maradona. Inter Milan were reportedly interested in the player in the summer of 2008 but there were no concrete negotiations between the two clubs.
But, according to the hugely respected Italian sports daily Il Corriere Dello Sport, Inter Milan are still very much keen on landing the player. Atletico value Aguero at 60 million euros and Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is ready to splash out that sum to sign the highly rated diminutive striker.
Sergio Aguero himself has said that he is happy at the Estadio Vicente Calderon and that he is not thinking of any transfer at the moment. However, given Inter Milan’s status, he could be coaxed to join the Nerazzurri before long.
Moreover, Argentine legend Maradona himself is set to join Inter Milan soon. Maradona’s daughter is Aguero’s girlfriend and this could prove to be highly significant should Inter really launch a bid for Aguero in January or next summer.
