Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has taken to Twitter to express his delight at his side’s win against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.
Frank Lampard’s team got the better of Villa 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in London in the Premier League.
Tammy Abraham, who spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Villa and played a key role in the Villans gaining promotion from the Championship, put Chelsea in the lead in the 24th minute when he headed home Reece James’s cross.
Trezeguet restored parity for Villa in the 41st minute, and just three minutes into the second half, Abraham set up Mason Mount for the home team’s second goal, which proved to be the winner.
The win saw Chelsea bounce back from the defeat to West Ham United at Stamford Bridge in the London derby, and midfielder Kovacic is over the moon.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, hosts Chelsea had 65% of the possession, took 25 shots of which nine were on target, and earned nine corners.
Visitors Villa had 35% of the possession, took nine shots of which three were on target, and earned five corners.
The result means that Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 29 points from 15 matches.
