Everton manager Marco Silva’s job hangs in the balance after the Toffees were thrashed 5-2 by Merseyside neighbours Liverpool in the English Premier League on Wednesday night.
The Portuguese manager is under pressure at Goodison Park with Everton sitting in the drop zone after 15 rounds in the league.
Everton have lost their past three matches and have only managed four wins and 14 points this campaign.
Wednesday’s 5-2 thrashing from leaders Liverpool came after conceding four first-half goals as the Reds ran riot at Anfield.
Former Everton boss David Moyes has now been linked with the job, potentially assisted by ex-Toffees legend Tim Cahill.
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is another to be linked with the Everton post, which has been occupied by Silva since his arrival from Watford in May 2018.
Silva wouldn’t be drawn on the situation post-game.
“I am not the right person to talk about this situation, different person than myself,” Silva said.
“Every game I will play and it will come the same questions after the match. For sure they have to do things on the pitch but words here will change nothing.”
Silva’s job doesn’t get any easier, with matches against Chelsea, Manchester United, Leicester City (League Cup) and Arsenal next on their fixture list.
