Chelsea Manager Frank Lampard Allays Expectations
Chelsea Manager Frank Lampard

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has urged the players and the fans not to get carried away with the team’s current form.

The Blues are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 20 points from 10 matches.

The London club, who could not sign a single new player in the summer transfer window due to a ban, are only two points behind second-placed and defending English champions Manchester City.

Chelsea are also going strong in the Champions League, as they are currently at the top of Group H with six points from three matches, level on points with second-placed Ajax.

While it is unlikely that Chelsea will challenge for the Premier League title or win the Champions League, the fans’ expectations have risen due to their good form and the exciting football that the young players are playing.

However, manager Lampard has urged everyone connected with the club not to get carried away and to keep their feet firmly on the ground.

Lampard told Chelsea’s official website: “We had a tough start, but I believed in the group and I believe in them daily – I’m just really pleased where we’ve got to.

“We’re working hard, but we have to be aware we can improve and if we get overconfident in this moment and start making crazy expectations on ourselves from within – let everyone else talk.

“From within, it’s game by game and how we can get better day by day. At the minute we have that feeling and it’s my job to keep that going.”

Back In Action

Chelsea will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Premier League rivals Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in London in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The Blues are back in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they lock horns with Watford away from home at Vicarage Road.
