Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso will be out of action until the end of October due to a hip injury.
The Premier League club have announced that Lo Celso will undergo a “period of rehabilitation” and will return to training only towards the end of next month.
The 23-year-old suffered the hip injury during Argentina’s goalless draw with Chile last Friday.
Lo Celso joined Tottenham on a season-long loan deal from Spanish club Real Betis in the summer transfer window.
The former Paris Saint-Germain prospect has arrived at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a strong reputation, but it has been a rather disappointing start to his Spurs career for the 23-year-old.
The youngster has made just three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, playing a total of 44 minutes.
During the 2018-19 campaign, Lo Celso made 27 starts and five substitute appearances in La Liga for Betis, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in the process.
Premier League challenge
Tottenham will now have to make do without Lo Celso for six weeks, as they aim to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title this season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will take on Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Southampton and Brighton and Hove Albion among other teams in the Premier League in the next few weeks, and also will face Olympiakos and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Spurs are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with five points from four matches, as many as seven points behind leaders Liverpool.
