Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for August.
Gilmour has been recognised for his performances for the Chelsea Development Squad last month.
The 18-year-old midfielder played every single minute for Andy Myers’s’s side in their opening four matches and have helped the Blues to the top of the standings.
The Scotland Under-21 international scored against Manchester City from the penalty spot.
Gilmour has also made his debut for the Chelsea senior side this season, as he came on as a substitute in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on August 31.
The other nominees for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for August are Arsenal duo Emile Smith-Rowe and Folarin Balogun, Blackburn Rovers midfielder Harry Chapman, Manchester United pair Brandon Williams nd James Garner, and Dan Kemp of West Ham United.
Progressing at Chelsea
Gilmour joined Chelsea in 2017 after leaving Scottish Premiership giants Rangers, and at the time, there were doubts on whether the youngster was making the right decision.
Over the past two or so years, the teenager has progressed and developed well in the Chelsea youth teams, and his senior debut against Sheffield United last month was nothing more than what he deserved.
It will take a while for Gilmour to establish himself as a regular in the Chelsea first team. For now, the Scottish youngster should focus on doing well for the London club’s development squad in the Premier League 2.
