Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is among the players nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August.
As announced on PremierLeague.com’s official website, Firmino is one of six players nominated for the prestigious individual award.
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and his teammates Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne, Burnley striker Ashley Barnes and Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki are the other nominees.
Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment, and Firmino has played a key role in that.
The 27-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, has scored two goals and provided two assists in four league appearances for the Reds so far this season, according to WhoScored.
Aguero, who is one of the best strikers in the world, has better stats, with six goals and one assist to his name in three starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for City.
Sterling, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, has scored five goals in four league games, while his City teammate De Bruyne has scored one goal and provided five assists in four league matches.
Pukki is probably the surprise of the pack, not because he does not deserve the nomination, but because not many will have expected him to be on the list.
The 29-year-old Finland international striker has scored five goals and provided one assist in four Premier League matches for the Canaries this season.
Burnley striker Barnes is also up for the award, having scored four goals in as many league fixtures last month.
