Premiership ‘also-rans’ Manchester City have just been taken over by an Arab business group and all of a sudden there are news and rumours of the world’s best players moving to the City of Manchester Stadium.
On Monday Manchester City ascertained the signing of the Brazilian international Robinho from Real Madrid for a British transfer record fee of 42 million euros.
That was a shocker indeed but it now appears that Man City are bracing themselves for more signings (in January of course now that the summer transfer window has slammed shut).
Among the players linked with a move to the Eastlands are the AC Milan playmaker Kaka and Valencia striker David Villa. And recently Man City have been linked with a 70 million euro move for the Juventus and the Italian international custodian Gianluigi Buffon.
It seems that the Abu Dhabi group that has bought the club is splash out as much money as they can. It is understandable that they want Man City to become a big club and as common with entrepreneurs and businessmen these days, they think that money buys success.
If only that were true….
