We are barely into the month of July and there are many deals and potential deals being talked about in La Liga. Here are the latest La Liga transfer rumours and updates.
Los Merengues have gotten their transfer business done very early this summer transfer window with many top class and young prospects being recruited.
The likes of Eden Hazard, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo and Luka Jovic, have been acquired for over 300 M euros. However, with so much spent, the capital club had to make back some from sales, and so far Mateo Kovacic, Marcos Llorente and Raul de Tomas have left, with the 13-time European champions having received a total of 95 M Euros for the trio.
Just today, as well, they have loaned Norway wonder-kid Martin Odegaard to fellow Spanish side Real Sociedad, while left back Theo Hernandez, is on the verge of completing his move to Milan after passing his medical. They are not done yet though, as there are still strong interest in Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman’s agent, Mino Raiola has confirmed today, that his client is looking to move on, with Real Madrid and former club Juventus, as his main suitors. This saga could run a while yet. Others that are expected to leave before the transfer window close are James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale Dani Ceballos among others, all of whom are not in the plans of manager Zinedine Zidane.
The Catalans, just like their arch-rivals have done a lot of business even before the transfer window had even officially opened on the 1st of July. Their major signings so far, are Frenkie de Jong, Neto and Emerson for a combined 113 M Euros. The five time European champions are also heavily linked with moves for former player Neymar and recently departed Atletico forward Antoine Griezmaan.
The former has according to reports, made it clear to current club PSG, who he left Barca for two seasons ago, that he wishes to re-unite with his former team, while the latter’s transfer has been the subject of major controversy today. The capital side’s President Enrique Cerezo has accused Barca of having signed a pre-contract with the Frenchman, without their permission.
He said: “If it is a case that he had previously signed, then there will be consequences.”
This one, like fellow countryman Pogba’s future, could run for several more weeks yet.On the departure front, they are gotten 100 M Euros through the sales of Jasper Cillessen, Andre Gomes, Paco Alcacer and Denis Suarez.
The third team of Spain’s “Big 3”, have almost gone against their traditions this summer by spending big. The one who has grabbed most of the attention, is 19-year old Portuguese forward Joao Felix who signed from Benfica for 126 M Euros.
Having had just one season in top flight football, he has become the fourth most expensive transfer in the game’s history, only behind Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Phillipe Coutinho. Other noted acquisitions are Marcos Llorente and Hector Herrera, with Los Rojiblancos taking their transfer spend to almost 160 M Euros.
They have however, sold and for high fees as well, with Lucas Hernandez, Rodri and Gelson Martins all majorly contributing to the club garnering over 170 M Euros from their sales.
Other major transfers in La Liga include Sevilla acquiring center back Jules Kounde from Bordeaux for around 30 M Euros, Real Betis picking up Argentine midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso from PSG for 26 M Euros and Raul Albiol’s return to Spain for Villarreal after six years in Serie A with Napoli.
