European Golden Boy award for 2018: 5 players who can win this prestigious award

Tuttosport has released the list of nominees for the European Golden Boy award for 2018. They have started this award in 2003 and Kylian Mbappe won this award last year. Golden Boy Award is often regarded as Youth Ballon D’or. Previous honors have been given to the likes of Paul Pogba, Mario Gotze, Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi. A list of 100 players have been announced and we can expect a close contest as many of them had a great season. Let’s see probable 5 players who can clinch the crown this year.

#5 Achraf Hakimi Current team: Real Madrid Country: Morocco Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi has shown a hint of his ability for Real Madrid this term. He has been included in Morocco World Cup squad and played all three games for Morocco in Russia against Iran, Portugal and Spain. His notable performance has impressed the critics. Achraf joined Real Madrid youth academy in 2006 and he was promoted to main squad in 2017. He bagged nine appearances in last season for Real where he scored two goals.

#4 Christian Pulisic Current team: Borussia Dortmund Country: USA Christian Pulisic is a strong contender for the award this year. His country has not been qualified in the World Cup but his season ended well for Dortmund. He scored four goals and five assists in 32 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. Pulisic started his youth career in Brackley Town at the age of seven. Later he joined Dortmund youth team in 2015. He represented United States U15 and U17 team and in 2016 he was called up for the senior team. According to transfer rumor, Everton have shown some interest to sign him for next season.

#3 Patrick Cutrone Current team: AC Milan Country: Italy Patrcik Cutrone scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for AC Milan. And Milan is going to sign a 5 years contract with him which shows his importance for the club at the moment. Cutrone is a Milan boy. He started his youth career in Milan in 2006. He also represented Italy at U15, U16, U17, U18 level. He was called for senior team as well for a friendly match against Argentina. He is the new star for Milan and Italy with a great career ahead. We will not be surprised if he win the Golden Boy award.

#2 Trent Alexander-Arnold Current Team: Liverpool Country: England Trent had a very good season with Liverpool which earned him a place in England’s World Cup squad. He was included in starting XI against Belgium and played a vital role despite England lost the game. Everyone praised his ball control and the crossed into the box. He is good at set pieces as well. Trent started his career in Liverpool academy and last year Liverpool made a long term contract with him. He played in the Champions League final for the Mercyside club against Real Madrid. His overall performance throughout the year has been recognized by everyone and as a result he has been nominated.

#1 Kylian Mbappe Current Team: Paris St. German Country: France Mbappe is truly the golden boy of the football at the moment. His performance against Argentina stunned the world and you have to appreciate his ability. He is the front runner for the award and no one would be surprised if for the first time this award is retained by someone. Mbappe had a great season with PSG with 27 appearances and 13 goals. He started his youth career in AS Bondy and then joined Monaco. Last year PSG signed him on loan from Monaco. He is incredibly talented and already tagged as next big thing for World Football.
