Now though things have changed and how! On Thursday evening Frank Lampard signed a five-year deal with Chelsea and has secured his future at Stamford Bridge. As if that weren’t a surprise, then listen to this: as per the new deal, Lampard shall now get paid a 151,000 pounds per week, making him officially the highest paid footballer in the English Premier League.

According to the British tabloid The Sun, Lampard shall earn 151,000 pounds per week, around 39 million pounds in total over the next five years of his contract. The highest paid footballer in the Premiership till now was his Chelsea teammate and skipper John Terry who earns 131,000 pounds per week.

The English Premier League is arguably the richest domestic league in the world but the question is whether there is too much money now. Also, is Lampard worth the money that he is being paid at Chelsea? Surely not!
