The truth is out of the closet and what a stark, somewhat amusing truth! Madrid based Spanish news daily Marca has revealed that had Juan Villalonga still been at the helm at Spanish side Valencia, then Los Che could have been celebrating the signings of Ronaldinho, Rafael van der Vaart, Dani Guiza and the appointment of Luis Aragones as the coach.

According to Marca, Juan Villalonga had lofty plans to radically oust the club from its current misery and restore it to its usual shape. Villalonga was made the Valencia chief at the end of last season after Juan Soler decided to move out of office.

But Soler, the majority shareholder at Valencia, refused to increase the capital and in the summer Villalonga was replaced by the conservative and cautious Vicente Soriano.

But it has emerged that Juan Villalonga had lofty plans indeed. He was certain that he could induce both Ronaldinho and Rafael van der Vaart to the Mestalla and also persuade both Luis Aragones and Dani Guiza to return from Turkish giants Fenerbahce just weeks after the duo had joined the Istanbul side as coach and striker respectively.

But now of course Valencia, far from preparing to sign top level players, are struggling to hold onto their top assets David Villa and David Silva.
