Born in 1969, Nicky Beech picked co-driving as his career of choice. In 1990, he managed to create a place for himself on the World Rally Championship stages. He sat alongside the likes of Mark Lovell and Ramana Lagerman in the American SCCA Rally Series.
He mostly went unnoticed during his early years in the sport. However, things began to change from 2002. Nicky came back to the British Rally Championships and joined forces with two-time British Rally Champion, Jonny Milner. From this point, Nicky didn’t look back.
Solid performances with Jonny Milner caught the eye of the Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi. The Sheikh was a regular participant in the Middle East Championships and Nicky became his regular navigator. Along with Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi, Nicky Beech took part in the Middle East Rally Championships as well as the FIA Production Car World Rally Championships. The combination hit it off immediately as in 2005, the pair came in at second place overall, in the Middle East Rally Championships. Although 2006 wasn’t as good as the previous year, they were still a force to be reckoned with and managed to get a third place finish in the final standings of the season.
These two performances impressed the BP Ford Abu Dhabi Rally Team and the management decided that both Nicky Beech and Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi were a strong team together and called them both up
The duo drove a Ford Focus RS WRC in their first season with the main Ford Team and with a similar lineup for the year 2008, they will be looking to blaze away with their enviable partnership.
