Miikka Anttila has had a long career as a co-driver, navigating for 13 different drivers in about 15 years. Born in Finland, in 1972, Miikka began his competitive career in 1993. He kept switching drivers every year almost in search of a title and it finally arrived in 1999.
While navigating alongside Janne Tuohino, Anttila won his first title in the Group N Championships. This wasn’t his last however as he also won the Super 1600 class at Rally Finland, in 2002, alongside fellow Finnish driver, Mikko Hirvonen.
The win took Anttila to meet his current partner, Jari-Matti Latvala. In 2003, Anttila and Latvala began a partnership, that was to become rather formidable, and finished second in the FIA World Rally Championships in 2004. The pair used a variety of cars including the Ford Puma Super 1600, the Subaru WRXSTi, the Ford Fiesta Super 1600, the Suzuki Ignis Super 1600 and the Mitsubishi Evo 8. In 2006, the pair, together, joined the Stobart VK M-Sport Ford Rally Team and the Production Car World Rally Championships. They finished fourth.
This led the pair to earn the top spot on a full time basis with Stobart for 2007. It turned out to be the most successful season for Anttila as the pair went on to gain 5 top-five finishes and made the podium on Rally Ireland. The duo has moved from one step to the other as a wonderful team and now, for 2008, they have the opportunity to start winning rallies as they will now run for the BP-Ford World Rally Team.
