Alexander Rossi is an American race driver and is currently competing for the IndyCar Series and driving the No. 27 Honda. He is competing for the Andretti Autosport. Rossi is also well-known for winning the Indianapolis 500. Before Rossi and his family moved to Europe, he already started his career as an amateur race driver in Formula One. He won a lot of races, such as the GP2 Series and Racing Engineering. After he had served as a test and development driver, he made his professional debut in 2015.
Rossi is one of the US-based F1 teams with Jonathan Summerton and Jose Maria Lopez. When they competed in Formula One, Rossie was able to test the BMW Sauber F1.09 F1 car, which helped him earn the Formula BMW World Final title. At the same time, he earned an FIA Super License, making him the first and only American to hold one.
The IndyCar Series is Rossi’s favorite form of racing, but, ironically, he’s taking little interest in it because of his hesitance to race on ovals. Before he signed with the Andretti Autosport, he admitted that he was very close to signing with Dale Coyne Racing for the 2015 IndyCar season. During his debut in the IndyCar, he finished the race in 12th place. He also competed in Sonoma Raceway, where he was hailed as the Rookie of the Year. In 2017, he was able to sign a multi-year contract with Andretti Autosport.
In December 2017, Andretti Autosport announced by the media that Rossi will be swapping numbers with Marco Andretti. This made Rossi move to the No. 27 team and use the No. 27 Honda, while Andretti used the No. 98 Herta.
Perhaps one of the most controversial Rossi’s races is when he finished 3rd place at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Rossi was running in second place and he attempted to pass Robert Wickens, however, he lost contact with Wickens. Little did Rosi knew, Wickens retired from the race. Rossi said that he felt about their lost contact, however, Wickens said that he had expected more of Rossi. Rossi was also criticized by analysts that Rossi the perfect weekend for another driver.
Rossi is a Protestant Christian, and he believed that being involved in car racing is his opportunity to share his beliefs.
