Colton Herta is an open-wheel racing driver born on March 20, 2000, in Valencia, California. He is the son of Bryan Herta, a former IndyCar driver who has a record of winning four races and two Indianapolis 500. Herta is recognized as the youngest winner in an IndyCar Series race. His karting debut started in 2010 when he was only ten years old, but he had been karting since he was six. He raced karts in the IKF and SKUSA series. At the age of 13, Colton Herta made his single debut, placing second in the SBF2000 Winter Series.

He made his formula car racing debut in 2014, finishing in rank 15 in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. In the same year, Colton Herta debuted in International Formula racing in Sepang, Malaysia. Herta took part in a single event in the AsiaCup series, where Colton won one race and three podium finishes. He also appeared on Global RallyCross Championship Lites as one of the youngest race car drivers to participate and compete in such a series. Herta is a three-time winner of the IndyCar race and the youngest winner in the history of the IndyCar race to win the Circuit of The Americas at 18 years old in 2019.

Colton Herta is also the youngest pole winner at the age of 19 when he also scored his first pole in 2019 at Road America. In the same year, he won the Rolex 24 at Daytona with the BMW Team RLL. Herta took part in the opening of the 2020 IndyCar season, finishing 7th and 8th at the Indianapolis 500. In the same year, he earned victory at the second race in two races at Mid-Ohio. He participated in the Saturday race at the Indianapolis Road course, finishing runner-up. In 2021, he was considered the strongest challenger for the IndyCar title. He took his first win of the season even when he was caught up in an accident at the start.

Aside from his talent in car racing, Colton also knows how to play the drums. He plays the drums in the Zibs, a rock band that toured different places on the West Coast in 2019. Colton also enjoys video games, comedies, and Electronic Dance Music or EDM. He’s an athlete who enjoys running, playing golf, and cycling aside from car racing.
