Rahel Frey is one of the two female drivers on Team Switzerland’s roster. A strong contender in a male dominated sports, Rahel has certainly left her mark on the racing world.
She started racing in Karts in 1998 where she had many victories and laurels laden upon her. She represented team CH at the national and international Karting championships between 1998 and 2004.
In 2004, she joined the Formula Renault 2000 series and with one win, 2 podium finishes in 9 races, Rahel came fourth in the Formula Renault 2000 championships. In 2005, she improved her standings by one place and came third with six podium finishes, 2 wins and 7 fastest laps in the 9 races for the Swiss Championships.
In 2006, she had a busy year where she took part in the ITM Series as well as the Eurocup Renault Formula 2000 series. She finished 17th in the ITM series whereas two top-ten finishes in the Eurocup along with 4 more in the Italian Championships saw her finish at 21st place in the Eurocup Renault Formula 2000 championships. In her tight schedule, she managed to squeeze in 3-day tests with the Formula Renault2.5 team, Jenzer.
In 2007, after further testing with Jenzer, she raced with the team in the 2007 Formula Renault 2000 championships. An avid skier and runner, Rahel will look forward to competing in her first season in A1 GP for team Switzerland. She will be looking to break new ground in the series and move on to bigger and better things.
