Scuderia Ferrari will introduce its challenger for the upcoming FIA Formula One World Championship season on February 14, the team from Maranello revealed on Thursday.

Ferrari’s new car, which goes by project number 675 until further official designation, will break covers on February 14, 2023.

The announcement comes a week after Aston Martin became the first Formula One team to make official its AMR23 launch date, set to February 13.

In addition, Charles Leclerc will partner Carlos Sainz Jr. at the wheel of the ‘Cavallino Rampante’ for a third consecutive year.

Scuderia Ferrari wrapped up the 2022 season by finishing second in the constructors’ championship with 554 points, behind the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team, which also claimed the driver’s championship at the hands of two-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen.

For his part, Leclerc fought a fierce battle with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, which went down to the final round, the F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Prix.

The Monegasque driver finished the race second to grab the world vice-champion spot, earning a 308 points tally, just three more than Perez.

Overall, the 25-year-old scored three race wins, nine poles, and eleven podium finishes over the season.

In 2022, teammate Sainz achieved his maiden race victory in the series at the British Grand Prix held in Silverstone.

The duo will have their first taste of the new machinery at F1 pre-season testing scheduled from February 23 to 25 in Bahrain.

A Shift at the Head of the Italian Squad

Significant changes have been made at the top range of the Scuderia following Mattia Binotto’s resignation as Team Principal, effective from December 31, 2022, after nearly three decades working with the iconic Italian car manufacturer.

In an official statement issued by Ferrari late in November, Binotto addressed his exit from the team, stating: “With the regret that this entails, I have decided to conclude my collaboration with Ferrari.

I am leaving a company that I love, which I have been part of for 28 years, with the serenity that comes from the conviction that I have made every effort to achieve the objectives set. I leave a united and growing team. A strong team, ready, I’m sure, to achieve the highest goals, to which I wish all the best for the future.”

By mid-December, Frederic Vasseur got appointed as the Team Principal.

The Frenchman, who joined Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN as Team Principal and Sauber Motorsport CEO in 2017, will step into his role within ‘The Prancing Horse’ company in January 2023.

Speaking about joining the Scuderia, Vasseur outlined: “I am truly delighted and honored to take over the leadership of Scuderia Ferrari as Team Principal. As someone who has always held a lifelong passion for motorsport, Ferrari has always represented the very pinnacle of the racing world to me.”

I look forward to working with the talented and truly passionate team in Maranello to honor the history and heritage of the Scuderia and deliver for our Tifosi around the world.”

The most successful outfit in Formula One history seeks to be back at the top of the standings, having captured its latest driver’s championship in 2007 with former F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen and its 16th constructors’ title a year later.
