Following an investigation conducted by the team on an episode involving the presumed use of racist language during an online live gaming stream, the Formula One team announced its decision to terminate the test and reserve driver contract.

The statement released by Red Bull Racing on Tuesday reads: “Following its investigation into an online incident involving Juri Vips, Oracle Red Bull Racing has terminated Juri’s contract as its test & reserve driver.”

Adding: “The team do not condone any form of racism.”

As of today Juri Vips has not commented on the team’s resolution.

Last week, Oracle Red Bull Racing suspended the Estonian from all team duties with immediate effect for the use of racist language in footage in which the driver is heard using a racial slur while playing a live-streamed game.

The Milton Keynes-based team remarked in an official statement: “As an organization, we condemn the abuse of any kind and have a zero-tolerance policy to racist language or behavior within our organization.”

Hours later, the 21-year-old took to Instagram, writing: “I wish to unreservedly apologize for the offensive language used during a live gaming stream earlier today.

This language is entirely unacceptable and does not portray the values and principles that I hold.

I deeply regret my actions, and this is not the example I wish to set. I will cooperate with the investigation fully.”

Vips has been a member of the Red Bull Junior Team since 2018.

In 2021, he secured a full-time seat with the UK-based racing team, Hitech Grand Prix, in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, remaining to race for the squad this season.

Currently, he sits in 7th place in the driver’s overall standings summing up 51 points in 12 races.

In addition, he acted as one of Red Bull Racing’s test and reserve drivers, a role he also fulfills with the squad’s sister brand AlphaTauri.

HitechGP has not issued an official statement regarding Vip’s future with the team, which remains uncertain.

Over a month ago, he debuted at the pinnacle of motorsport, driving Red Bull’s Sergio Perez’s car in the first free practice session of the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.
