Aston Martin Formula One has been pleading four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel to stay with them next year and “beyond.”
Vettel was known to race for the Red Bull in 2010-13 that earned him 4 world championship titles. For the past few weeks, ongoing reports have been spreading that Vettel might leave Aston Martin after receiving offers from various F1 companies.
Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, Lawrence Stroll, gladly confirmed that Vettel will stay with Aston Martin for the 2022 season. Joining Vetter is Stroll’s son named Lance Stroll, who is their potential champion.
The new project is their newly-built factory at Silverstone for their Mercedes-powered team to work on, as they have a new goal to be title contenders within 5 years. The newfound racer Stroll has debuted in 2017, and he will start his sixth season as a racer by next year.
Aston Martin team Principal Otmar Szafnauer shared that Stroll is one of the most talented and gifted drivers in modern Formula One, while Vettel is an asset they can’t easily let go of. According to Vettel’s contract, he is bound to stay with Aston Martin Formula One in the next season and “beyond”, so it means that Vettel’s stay with Aston Martin is indefinite.
They are expecting a more challenging Formula One this 2022, as the aerodynamics rules have changed to something more competitive. Currently, Aston Martin is ranked 7th in the constructor’s standings.
