Shinya Aoki is a mixed marital artist athlete from Japan also known as “Tobikan Judan” of the Master of Flying Submissions. He is an expert in grappling and held three titles consecutively - the DREAM Lightweight Champion, Shooto Middleweight Champion, and the WAMMA Lightweight Champion. Prior to fighting in the MMA professionally, he already had a black belt in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo.

Aoki was borin in Shizuoka City, Japan on May 9, 1983. He debuted in the MMA in November 20013 defeating his first opponent via submission. He later on co-founded with the Sengoku champion Satoru Kitaoka and Deep champion Masakazu Imanari the Nippon Top Team. The group features that best grapplers in Japan fighting at the MMA scene.

Prior to winning his first title in the early 2006, he won six of his eight fights losing to Jutaor Nakao in 2004 and to Hayato Sakurai in 2005. After joining the DREAM Lightweight Grand Prix, he conquered Gesias Calvancante, Katsuhiko Nagata, and Caol Uno to reach the final round against Joachim Hansen in July 2008. However, he lost via TKO to Hansen on the round one of the match, taking his DREAM Lightweight Championship title.

Aoki won the WAMMA Lightweight Championship against Eddie Alvarez via submission back in 2008. He tried his luck on the welterweight division but later on returned to the lightweight division.

His latest fight was against Rasul Yakhyaev last May 18, 2018 which ended with a win for him via submission using a triangle choke. At present, Aoki’s MMA record include 48 fights with 40 wins, 8 losses, with 1 no contest. He is currently fighting for the Paraestra Tokyo.
