Jiri Prochazka is a mixed martial artist from and based in the Czech Republic. In addition to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), he also competed in Muay Thai. As of 2021, he competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the light heavyweight division. In addition to the UFC, Prochazka has also fought in the Japanese MMA organization of Rizin Fighting Federation. At one point, he was the Rizin FF Light Heavyweight Champion.

In May 2021, Prochazka was ranked by the UFC as their No.2 Light Heavyweight fighter. He was also ranked by Fight Matrix as the No.5 light heavyweight MMA fighter.

Athlete Bio and Personal Life

Prochazka was born on October 14, 1992. He is from Znojmo, Czech Republic. He currently fights out of and trains in Brno, Czech Republic. He used to live in Roscie and Hosteradice in the Czech Republic.

Jiri stands 6 feet 4 inches or 193 centimeters tall and his listed weight is 205 pounds or 93 kilograms. He has a reach of 203 cm or 80 inches. His fighting style in MMA is based on Muay Thai or Kickboxing. He has been trained by Martin Karaivanov, Jaroslav Hovezak, Tomas Hron, Zdenek Dohnal, and Matej Penaz.

He follows the principles of Bushido and he has a bachelor’s degree from Masaryk University. He is known for his battle cry of “BJp”, which means “Bomb the Shit of ‘Em”. His nickname is “Denisa”.

Muay Thai and Early MMA Career

When he was 16, Prochazka took combative courses while he was attending the Brno Protective Service Secondary Academy. He attended Hetsaam Gym Brno and was taught by Martin Karaivanov. In 2011, he won a national Muay Thai event.

Prochazka debuted as a professional MMA fighter in 2012 with the Gladiator Fighting Championship. He would go on to win the GCF Light Heavyweight Championship. He defended it successfully against Tomas Penz in June 2014.

He joined the Rizin Fighting Federation in 2015.


Prochazka made his Rizin debut in December of the same year. He won against Saotoshi Ishii. Rizin fighters he has gone up against include Vadim Nemkov, Muhammed Lawal, Kazuyuki Fujita, Mark Tanios, Brune Henrique, and William Roberto Alves.

His first loss in Rizin was against Lawal. He would go on to fight a rematch with Lawal in 2019. This time, the Inaugural Rizin Light Heavyweight Championship. Later, he would defend this against CB Dollaway.


He signed with the UFC in early 2020 and he made his debut on July 12, 2020, against Volkan Oezdemir. He won the fight via knockout and he also received a Performance of the Night Commendation.

His next fight in the UFC was against Dominick Reyes in May 2021. He also won this and was awarded both the Performance of the Night and the Fight of the Night bonuses.
