Curtis Blaydes, nicknamed “Razor”, is a mixed martial artist born in Naperville, Illinois. He is a part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and fights in the Heavyweight Division. He has been competing professionally since 2014.
In addition to the UFC, Blaydes was also a part of the Resurrection Fighting Alliance. In May 2021, he was ranked No.4 by the UFC in their Heavyweight Rankings.

Blaydes was born Curtis Lionel Blaydes in Naperville. He currently resides and fights out of Lakewood, Colorado in the United States of America. Blaydes stands 6 feet 4 inches or 193 cm tall. His reach is, 203 cm or 80 inches, and his listed weight is 261 pounds or 118 kilograms. He currently competes in the Heavyweight Division.
He has a daughter and he is engaged to his long-time girlfriend.
Wrestling Career in High School and College
Curtis attended the De La Salle Institute, a private high school. While there he won a state wrestling title in his senior year. He also played football in high school.
For college, he attended Northern Illinois University after receiving a full wrestling scholarship. He redshirted his freshman year before he went on to attend Harper College.
At Harper, he won the NJACAA National Championship. He would eventually leave college to focus on his MMA career.
Professional MMA Career
Blaydes turned pro in 2014. Before that, he compiled an amateur record of 8-0. When he turned pro, he compiled a record of 5-0 before eventually signing up with the UFC.
He made his UFC debut in April 2016. It was against Francis Ngannou and he lost that fight in a TKO. His next UFC fight was with Cody East. This was his first UFC win as well as his first Performance of the Night commendation.
UFC players he has gone up against include Adam Milstead, Daniel Omielanczuk, Alexey Oleynik, Mark Hunt, Alistair Overeem, Junior de Santos, Justin Willis, and more.
He faced Ngannou again in a rematch in November 2018. He lost.
In 2020, Blaydes was supposed to go up against Derrick Lewis but he tested positive for the COVID-19. It was rescheduled for February 2021. Blaydes ended up losing that fight.
His latest UFC fight was with Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
