Justin Jaynes is an American professional mixed martial artist. He has been active since 2008. Nicknamed, Guitar Hero, Jaynes competes in the Lightweight and Featherweight division. Competitions and groups he is affiliated with include the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts.
He has also played in the Warrior Xtreme Cagefighting (WXC).
Jaynes was born on August 10, 1989, in Richmond, Michigan. His full name is Justin Michael Jaynes. He stands 5 feet 8 inches tall or 173 cm. His last listed weight is 145 pounds. He has a reach that is as long as his height at 173 cm or 68 inches. He fights in the featherweight and lightweight divisions.
Jaynes has a son named Benjamin and he is currently fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada. He has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As of 2021, his disclosed earnings are listed at US$80,000.00.
He went to Olivet College and graduated with a degree in Sports and Fitness Management. In high school, he played for the wrestling team at Richmond High School.
WXC, Bellator, and Regional Circuits
Jaynes turned pro in 2013. Prior to that, he played in several bouts, especially during MMA’s early phases in Michigan. He participated in the WXC and won the Lightweight Title. He also appeared n Bellator.
In addition to these, he also played in many regional circuits before eventually joining the UFC.
Jaynes started playing for the UFC in June 2020. The fight was originally scheduled between Matt Frevola and Frank Camacho but Frevola tested positive for COVID-19 and was replaced by Jaynes. The fight ended in a win for Jaynes with a TKO in the first round.
His next four fights in the UFC ended in losses. Fighters he has gone up against include Gavin Tucker, Gabriel Benitez, Devonte Smith, and Charles Rosa. Since June 2021, he has been on a losing streak. His last fight was with Rosa, it was held on June 26, 2021.
In August 2021, it was announced that the UFC was releasing Jaynes from his contract.
