Roxanne Modafferi is a professional mixed marital artist and currently ranked 5th in UFC’s official Flyweight rankings. She is a one-time International Fighting Champion and ISKA Women’s World Middleweight Champion. She also ranks 8th in best female flyweight division and 34th in best pound-for-pound female MMA in worldwide rankings.

Born on September 24, 1982 in Wilmington, Delaware, Modafferi started training in Tae Kwon Do when she was a teenager. From there, she started training in Kenpo Karate and Judo. Before leaving to earn a degree in Japanese Language and Literature at the University of Massachusetts, she trained at the Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu association for 3 months.

Modafferi is also a two-time Fatal Femmes Fighting Women’s Lightweight Champion. She won the K-GRACE Women’s Openweight Tournament and was a semi-finalist at the 2004 Smackgirl World ReMix Openweight Tournament. United Fighting Championship also awarded her a Fight of the Night for her match against Nicco Montano.

On her MMA professional debut, she fought and won against Hikaru Shinohara at Smackgirl – Third Season 7 on November 2003. She had notable wins against Jennifer Howe, Hee Jin Lee, MMA great Marloes Coenen, Vanessa Porto, Molly Helsel, Priscilla de Souza, and Sarah D’Aleilo. Her latest fight was on July 6, 2018 at UFC – The Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale and she defeated Barb Honchak via TKO.
