Tecia Torres is a female mixed martial artist with Puerto Rican descent. She is an American who was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on August 16, 1989. Torres is currently signed under the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is competing in the strawweight division. She is currently ranked fifth in her division by the UFC.
The “Little Tornado” has been exposed to martial arts at an early age of 5 years. She began training taekwondo as a child and received her black belt after 12 years. She also was an amateur Muay Thai fighter with a record of 16 wins and 4 losses.
In 2011, Torres began her amateur journey in mixed martial arts. She won all of her 7 fights before she turned professional in 2012. Her first fight as a professional was under Invicta Fighting Championships. This was against Kaiyana Rain wherein she won via unanimous decision. In December of 2014, she made her debut in the UFC.
Torres combines karate and taekwondo when fighting. She does not often use submission techniques but has demonstrated strong submission defense skills. Her skills in mixed martial arts allowed her to earn several accomplishments including a one-time MMA Solutions amateur strawweight title under MMA Solutions Global, a one-time US Freedom Fighter Championship title and a one-time American Battle Strawweight Championship title. She was also the Strawweight of the Year in 2013 according to Women’s MMA Awards and the Awakening Fighters.com WMMA Awards.
The 5-foot 1-inch fighter comes with a 61-inch reach and black belts in Karate and Taekwondo. She also has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a mixed martial arts record of 12 fights with 10 wins and 1 loss. Her last fight with Jessica Andrade at UFC Fight Night ended in a loss.
