David Abbott or David Lee “Tank” Abbot is a professional mixed martial artist, author and wrestler. He had been very popular during the early stages of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and mixed martial arts. Aside from competing under the UFC, he also had the chance to compete under other promotions including Cage Rage, Elite XC, Strikeforce and Pride Fighting Championships. Abbot was the first ever mixed martial artist who regularly worn what is now known as the traditional mixed martial art gloves and is considered as the most famous fighter with more defeats than victories in the mixed martial arts world.

The well-known fighter grew up in Huntington Beach, California. He was nine years old when he started training in wrestling. He was part of the wrestling team during his high school and college years and became an NJCAA All-American. He was also involved in several street fights and was detained for six months for assault during his younger years.

It was in 1995 when he began his professional mixed martial arts career. This was during the UFC Clash of the Titans. Aside from being a fighter, he was also an actor appearing in TV shows like hit Friends and a wrestler. Furthermore, Abbott was a professional wrestler from 1999-2000 before returning back to mixed martial arts in 2003.

The 6-foot fighter, who is now 51 years old, comes with a mixed martial arts record of 25 fights with 10 wins and 15 losses. Some of his accomplishments in the sport included being a runner-up in the UFC 6 Tournament and Ultimate 1996 Tournament. He was also a finalist in the Ultimate 1995, UFC 11 Tournament and UFC Japan Heavyweight Tournament.
