Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson is a wrestler, boxer and pound per pound fighter at the UFC. He is an American mixed martial artist who happens to be the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 13. At present, he is at the 7th spot of the UFC lightweight and ranks number 6 in the lightweight division of the world.
Ferguson was born on February 12, 1984 and is of Mexican heritage. He lived in a small town and was enrolled by his father in sports at a young age to be able to fit in his surroundings. Ferguson has superb athletic skills. In high school, he was also into football, baseball and wrestling.
He later on moved back to California and worked in marketing and sales during the morning and worked a bartender at night. He was discovered by a patron in that bar and was asked to join some MMA fighters with their wrestling. He fell in love with the sport once again and devoted his life entirely to his MMA career.
He signed up in the UFC in 2011 at The Ultimate Fighter: Team Lesnar vs Team dos Santos and was picked third on Team Lesnar and landed fifth during the entire show. He moved to the quarter finals via an explosive up kick against Justin Edwards.
His debut fight in the UFC was against Ramsey Nijem, where he won at the UFC The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale.
He only lost once in the UFC against Michael Johnson in the UFC on Fox 3. His latest win was against Josh Thomson in the UFC Fight Night 71 and is scheduled to fight against Edson Barboza on December 11, 2015 on Las Vegas Nevada.
He has a current record of 21 fights with 19 wins and 3 losses.
