Conor “The Notorious” McGregor is an Irish mixed martial artist born on July 14, 1988. He currently competes at the featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. At present, he is also the current UFC Interim Featherweight Champion.
Before entering the UFC, he was also the former Cage Warriors lightweight and featherweight champion. He stands at the top spot of the UFC featherweight division and on the 12th spot of the pound-for-pound fighters in the official UFC rankings.
His first passion as a child was in football and was even part of the Lourdes Celtic Football Club during his younger years. He later on diverted into boxing in his early teen years. He quit playing football entirely after that claiming that it was for women. He managed to balance training in boxing while making a living as a plumbing apprentice. His passion for the MMA was ignited after sparring with another future UFC fighter, Tom Egan, who thought McGregor how to grapple. He quit from his apprenticeship and decided to take combat sports more seriously.
His first official fight in the MMA was at the COT 2 and won against Gary Morris via a TKO. He was later on defeated by Artemij Sitenkov on his third match professionally on the COT 3 via submission. His second lost was from Joseph Duffy on the CWFC 39 – The Uprising in 2011.
He never lost a fight since then even as he moved on to the UFC defeating Marcus Brimage on his debut fight in the Octagon. He is currently set to fight against Josel Aldo in the UFC 194 this coming December 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada.
